Lionsgate has acquired the original pitch by Bill Marsilii with Witherspoon and her partner Bruna Papandrea producing through their Pacific Standard Films banner. Witherspoon also is attached to star. The plot is being kept under wraps but has been described as a dark thriller with supernatural elements. Lionsgate's Eric Feig and Gillian Bohrer were the first buyers to hear the pitch, and quickly bid on the material.

In what appears to be a coordinated action, HD-quality pilots for at least four upcoming 2015-16 season TV shows popped up on Internet piracy sites early today, weeks before their scheduled TV premieres. The pirated copies appeared on torrent websites at about 2 a.m. ET this morning, according to antipiracy analytics firm Excipio. It’s not clear how the pilots made their way into the wild, but in the past such early leaks have been ripped from preview DVD copies.

Seth Gordon is aboard to direct what has long been described as a comedic take on the sun-drenched, melodramatic series. The plot, most recently re-written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, follows a by-the-book veteran lifeguard who must team up with a rule-breaking younger man to save their beach from an environmental disaster that might result if a scheming oil tycoon gets his way. Film should start shooting in February.

After co-starring in nearly every season of FX's hit show, Adlon has landed her own series.
Better Things will star Adlon as "a working actor with no filter trying to earn a living, navigate her daughters’ lives, have fun with a friend or two and also — just maybe — squeeze in some private time once in a while.” Created by Adlon and C.K., the show will be FX's first with a solo female lead. The network has already ordered it to series.

Cable network’s exorcism drama from
The Walking Dead executive producer Kirkman and Chris Black, has added six new cast members as production begins in South Carolina. David Denham, Melinda McGraw, Grace Zabriskie, Catherine Dent, Lee Tergesen and Brent Spiner have been cast opposite Patrick Fugit and Philip Glenister in the 10-episode series based on the Skybound/Image comic title by Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta.

Entrepreneurs have to wear many hats and our days are filled with endless to-dos. As we often work solo or with small teams, the number of items on that list can seem endless and unrelenting. One of the greatest “mind enemies” we face is personal judgment around our productivity. The Weinstein Company has released the first look at the new drama starring Bradley Cooper as a chef trying to earn a third Michelin star for his restaurant. Uma Thurman, Sienna Miller, Daniel Bruhl, Emma Thompson, Lily James, Matthew Rhys, Omar Sy, Jamie Dornan and Alicia Vikander all co-star in the film, which was directed by John Wells. It hits theaters October 23rd.
