Clint Eastwood Continues To Assemble Insane Talent For His Sully Sullenberger Film
Laura Linney, who worked with the legendary actor-director on the 1997 film Absolute Power, joins Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart in Sully. The biopic is based on the pilot’s memoir, called Highest Duty: My Search For What Really Matters. Linney is aboard Lorraine Sullenberger, Chesley’s wife, who he credits as a big part of his life, but who keeps him grounded. Hanks is playing the title role. (EMP)
Anne Hathaway Becomes the Latest Star Headed For TV, Will Star in ‘The Ambassador’s Wife’ Limited Series
Oscar winner will also produce the TV adaptation of Jennifer Steil’s novel of the same name, with MGC financing and producing the project after optioning the book rights. Inspired by her experiences as the wife of the British ambassador to Yemen, Steil’s novel portrays the kidnapping of an American woman in the Middle East and the heartbreaking choices she and her husband must make to possibly be reunited. Shonda Rhimes’ Upcoming ABC Show Needs a New Set Of Showrunners
The creator and co-showrunners of The Catchare exiting the show amid creative differences with ABC and Shondaland on the direction of the midseason drama. Jennifer Schuur, who created the show, and Josh Reims, who was to serve as exec producer and co-showrunner alongside Schuur, have exited the ABC Studios midseason drama. Sources said the change came after a significant disagreement with Schuur and Reims about the show’s direction. (VAR)
Today In Reboot News: There’s Going To Be a New ‘Zorro’, but With a Post-Apocalyptic Twist
Zorro Reborn has found new life with a partnership between Lantica Media and Sobini Films. Lantica, the media company led by CEO Antonio Gennari that works in production and financing as well as studio space, will finance the movie with a plan to begin principal photography March 2016 in Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios. Veteran producer and Sobini CEO Mark Amin, whose credits include Good Kill and Frida, will produce the film. (HV)
The Rise Of John Boyega Continues, as the ‘Force Awakens’ Star Signs On For ‘The Circle’
The actor will join Tom Hanks and Emma Watson in the The Circle, a satire about the erosion of privacy in the information age, written and directed by James Ponsoldt, based on the Dave Eggers novel. Boyega will play Ty, “the iconized boy-wonder visionary of the Circle,” with the Circle being a bit like a hyper-accelerated mash-up of Google and Apple. (SF)
