Disney’s Golden Girl, Kelly Marcel Will Now Tackle Writing A Live-Action ‘Cruella’
The studio is fast-tracking the project and has called upon Kelly Marcel, the writer of Saving Mr. Banks to script their live-action Cruella based on the villain from 101 Dalmatians. Disney is cementing its live-action fairy tale empire, dating no fewer than four untitled films through 2020 in addition to several movies already set for release, including The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. No ‘Extant’, No Problem for Halle Berry as She Develops New Show for CBS
It’s on to the next one for Hally Berry, as she doesn’t skip a beat after CBS has decided to pull the plug after two seasons of Extant, and develops a new show for CBS. The new series, Legalease, centers on a biracial lawyer from Chicago who follows a case to New Orleans and partners with a ‘good ol’ boy white attorney’. (DL)
CAA Tell-All Book Promises Jaw-Dropping Surprises When it Hits Shelves Next Spring
Author James Andrew Miller collected more than 300 interviews with CAA founders and current leadership, studio presidents, network chiefs, producers, directors, stars, musicians, athletes and agents for his tell-all book on the powerhouse agency. Other Studios Take Note- How WB is Taking Native Advertising with LexCorp to a Whole New Level
In a brilliant marketing move to promote Batman v Superman, WB is offering free Wi-Fi courtesy of LexCorp to NY Comic-Con, an event notorious for poor cellular connections. They also launched a very realistic, in-world, LexCorp website that makes it appear to be an Apple-like tech startup and successfully brings Lex Luther to the modern Silicon Valley obsessed age. (SR)
