DreamWorks Studios has acquired the John Connolly trilogy of novels, The Gates, The Infernals and The Creeps for middle-school readers as a possible new franchise. The books follow young protagonist Samuel Johnson and his loyal dog Boswell as they battle the forces of darkness starting days before Halloween. (DL)

Ellen DeGeneres to Develop Bewitching Film Based on Castle Hangnail Children’s Book for Disney
Disney has optioned the movie rights to Castle Hangnail, a children’s book by Ursula Vernon, for an adaptation to be produced by Ellen DeGeneres. The book tells of a 12-year old witch who shows up at a dark castle that needs a master or be decommissioned by the bureaucratic Board of Magic and its many minions. (THR)
Sons Of Anarchy The Ride Might Happen as Fox is Developing a New Theme Park in Dubai
Twentieth Century Fox has announced a licensing partnership with Al Ahli Holding Group that will result in the construction of a theme park and resort in Dubai. The park will be Fox-branded and will tap into the studio’s entertainment library. (VAR)

Following the revival of HBO’s Project Greenlight, Adaptive Studios has announced Project Greenlight Digital Studios allowing viewers and community members to participate in greenlighting projects.
