As ABC Family Rebrands Into Freeform, It Greenlights Two Shows To Series
Disney-owned cable net has picked up Tim Kring’s Beyond and its Amanda Knox-themed drama Guilt to series. Supernatural drama Beyond revolves around a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. Guilt is an edgy, soapy thriller that revolves around an American in London who becomes the prime suspect in the savage murder of her roommate. (LF)
Scott Free Makes Major TV Push, Inks a Big Deal With CBS Studios
Fourteen years after the company’s television division was officially launched, it is in a major expansion mode. Scott Free has signed a new first-look deal for broadcast projects at CBS TV Studios where the company has two series, both for CBS, the award-winning The Good Wife and the upcoming BrainDead. Under the pact, Scott Free has also sold three drama projects to CBS for next season. (DH)

Film explores the experiences of special agent Mark Felt (Neeson), the man who eventually revealed himself to be the mysterious source who helped Washington Post reports Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward (you might recall their story from All The President’s Men) investigate and eventually expose the dodgy goings on, with what they dug up eventually leading to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. ‘Fargo’ Star Allison Furman Lands Lead In New ABC Pilot
The breakout star of the first season of FX’s Emmy-winning series has been cast in the starring role of “Nan” in the comedy pilot Downward Dog. Her character is described thusly: “Nan’s life is in a constant state of upheaval, but she always feels like she’s about to turn the corner. Her ideal self lies just on the other side of this juice cleanse, or new relationship, or maybe if she gets a standing desk.” (EW)

Written and created by Neil Cross and directed by Sam Miller (No Good Deed), the Luther movie — which will run nearly three hours — finds Idris Elba’s antihero pulled “out of seclusion” by a case involving “a cannibalistic serial killer.” The film, which also includes Rose Leslie, Laura Haddock, Darren Boyd, John Heffernan, Patrick Malahide, Michael Smiley and Dermot Crowley, will hit the airways Thursday night, December 17th at 9 pm EST.
