CAA: In-demand young actor Joe Alwyn has been snagged by CAA. He will continue to be co-repped by his previous agency, Independent Talent Group in the UK. He will next be seen starring in Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk alongside Vin Diesel, Chris Tucker, Kristen Stewart and Steve Martin. He also co-stars in Ritesh Batra’s The Sense Of An Ending opposite Jim Broadbent and Emily Mortimer.
UTA: Actress Shailene Woodley has moved to UTA for representation following her point agent, Ryan Bartlett, after he moved from Paradigm to UTA. Woodley has starred in Lionsgate’s Divergent franchise. The third film is set for a release in 2016. She also will appear opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Oliver Stone’s Snowden. Her previous film, The Fault in Our Stars, grossed more than $300 million worldwide last year.
CAA: Filmmaker David Robert Mitchell has shifted from WME to CAA. His first film, The Myth Of The American Sleepover, premiered at SXSW in 2010 and won the Special Jury Prize. He wrote/directed/produced the horror film It Follows, which premiered at Cannes last year. Radius-TWC released it domestically, and it grossed close to $15 million to make it Radius-TWC’s most successful film to date. On the TV side he is writing an original pilot he sold to Universal Cable for an hourlong noir drama, Mr. Postman.
Brillstein: Social media star and digital media personality Cameron Dallas has signed with Brillstein Entertainment Partners. He recently won the Male Web Star trophy at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, Dallas ranks as the No. 11 most-followed Viner, has more than 4 million YouTube subscribers and 27 million followers across his social media accounts. Dallas made his film debut in 2014, starring in Awesomeness TV’s Expelled. He will continue to be repped by WME and Hanson Jacobsen.
APA: Writer Sarah Tarkoff has signed up with APA for representation. She is a writer on ABC’s Mistresses and in 2015 sold her debut YA sci-fi novel Eye Of The Beholder to HarperCollins in a competitive three-book deal. She has also written episodes of Arrow and The Witches Of East End.
Primary Wave: Actor/Producer Mark Roberts has signed with Primary Wave Entertainment. He previously created Mike & Molly and exited the show after three seasons in 2013. He has also written for Two And A Half Men. On the film side, he produced the film In a World.. and executive produced the film Big Sur, both released in 2013.
WME: Educational YouTube mashup artist John Boswell, also known as Melodysheep, has signed with WME. He’s known for using clips from science documentaries and lectures, auto-tuning the spoken words, and turning them into music video mashups. He is best known for his Symphony of Science music video series, which has garnered more than 110 million views on YouTube and been used as an educational tool in classrooms around the world. Boswell also created the video series PBS Icons Remixed, featuring Bob Ross, Julia Child, LeVar Burton and Mr. Rogers.
