WME: Maroon 5 and its frontman Adam Levine have shifted from CAA to WME, and the agency will represent both in all areas. Maroon 5 has sold more than 27 million albums and 48 million singles globally along with picking up three Grammys and three AMAs among other accolades. Currently the band is in the middle of a two-year, 104-date world tour for its fifth album, V. Frontman Levine continues his gig as a coach on NBC’s The Voice and has a development deal with the network via his 222 Productions banner, which also is now repped by WME. 222 most recently received a pilot order for an untitled hidden-camera show.
WME: Girl power toy company GoldieBlox, hailed for its thought-provoking video campaigns, has signed with WME. Founded in 2012 with the help of Kickstarter, the company’s focus is to drive young girls’ interest in engineering. The company earned over eight million views in 2013 YouTube video titled “GoldieBlox & Rube Goldberg ‘Princess Machine'” with a cover of the Beastie Boys’ song “Girls.” Their latest video, “Fast-Forward Girls 2015”, features young girls posing as women who had big moments in 2015 and has scored 214,000 views.
WME: Up-and-coming actor Justice Smith has signed with WME. Previously he co-starred in the feature film adaptation of the YA novel, Paper Towns earlier this year. He can next be seen as one of the four young leads of Netflix’s The Get Down, the period hip hop drama from Baz Luhrmann. He will still be represented by David Kohl at The Kohl Group and attorney Steven Younger at Myman Greenspan.
UTA: Young actress Joey King has signed with UTA. Her break-out role was as Ramona Quimby, in 2010’s Ramona and Beezus, opposite Selena Gomez. Recently she appeared on the first season of FX’s Fargo and will next be seen in Independence Day: Resurgence, after being featured in director Roland Emmerich’s Stonewall this year. After that she will star in Catherine Hardwicke’s upcoming adaptation of the YA novel Stargirl.
