Your 2016 Academy Awards Nominations Will Be Read Live On Thursday By Guillermo Del Toro and John Krasinski
Ang Lee and Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs will also read nominees, with the 24 Oscar categories split amongst the four presenters. Krasinski and Isaacs will unveil the nominees for Best Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Directing, Film Editing, Foreign Language Film, Original Score, Picture, Production Design, Visual Effects, Adapted Screenplay and Original Screenplay, and the two directors handling the rest. Despite Ricky Gervais’ Return, Golden Globes Ratings Slip From Last Year
The final numbers are in for the 73rd Annual awards show, and while still down from last year, things have tighten up – both among adults 18-49 and in total viewership. Based on time zone adjusted numbers, including that last 6-minutes that were left out of the earlier numbers, last night’s Globes drew a 5.5 rating with an audience of 18.5 million viewers. Down five percent from last year’s third straight outing with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. (AL)

So what’s the rush to cast somebody if the Phil Lord and Chris Miller-directed movie isn’t arriving until 2018? HBO Orders To Pilot Bill Hader’s New Comedy About a Lonely Hitman
The comedian and actor created Barry under an exclusive deal he has with the cable network. Pilot focuses on the titular character, an ex-marine-turned-hitman who takes a job out in Los Angeles and ends up making friends with members of a theater troupe. The possible new series will pair Hader with Silicon Valley executive producer Alec Berg. (COL)
Jamie Foxx Is Set To Join Taron Egerton In Lionsgate’s ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ Revamp
The actor will play Little John in the mini-major’s redo of the classic English tale about the archer-thief who stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Egerton is on board as Robin Hood and Eve Hewson will be playing Maid Marian. Little John was Robin’s right-hand man and known to fight with a staff. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way is producing the project which will be directed by Otto Bathurst. (HV)
Good News and Bad News For ‘Creed’ Fans: Sequel Set For November 2017, but Ryan Coogler Probably Won’t Return
MGM is eyeing the release date so that the sequel would come out exactly two years after the hit film, starring Michael B. Jordan, Tessa Thompson and Sylvester Stallone, hit theaters. Assuming that date is firm, it almost certainly means Creed co-writer and director Coogler won’t be able to helm the new film, as he has signed to direct Marvel’s Black Panther movie, set for release in February, 2018.
