Monsters don’t scare Mary Parent. Not much does, really. Not giant lizards or enormous apes, not otherworldly creatures sent through a dimensional divide to conquer the world, not biblical floods meant to wipe humanity off the face of the earth. Something Extremely Rare Happened With This Year’s Academy Awards, Not Once, but Twice
Throughout Oscars history, only five films have ever nabbed nominations in all seven technical categories. Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant became only the fourth and fifth films ever to be acknowledged in all the craft categories: cinematography, costume design, film editing, production design/art direction, sound editing, sound mixing and visual effects. Even more so, only one film has ever before swept all seven of these categories. (Hint: It’s Titanic.) (HRA)

In What Should Be a Surprise To Absolutely No One, Netflix Gives a Second Season To ‘Master Of None
The show’s co-creator and star, Aziz Ansari, tweeted the news to his followers, but said the next season of the popular and Critics’ Choice Award-winning comedy series won’t premiere until 2017. The series features the former Parks and Recreation star as an actor trying to build a career and a life in New York City. Ansari created the Universal TV series with Alan Yang. (VAR)
Joe Wright To Direct Episode Of Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror’ Starring Bryce Dallas Howard & Alice Eve
Pan helmer will hold the reins of a new episode coming from the online streaming giant. There are no other details on the plot of this particular episode, but Netflix has 12 new episodes of the series on the way. A debut date for the new series hasn’t yet been set. (TP)
‘Battlestar Galactica’ Movie in Development With Producers Michael De Luca, Scott Stuber
Powerhouse producer De Luca is teaming up with Stuber and Dylan Clark of Bluegrass Films to produce the movie for Universal, which is hoping to launch a massive event franchise. Short-lived but impactful television series created by Glen A. Larson aired on ABC from 1978 to 1979. The show was revived and re-imagined for the post-9-11 world in 2004 as a thought-provoking, politically-charged series that ran to great acclaim on Syfy from 2004 to 2009. (HV)
It Appears That All Of Rory’s Old Flames Will Be Showing Up To the Netflix ‘Gilmore Girls’ Reunion Shows
While Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham, Kelly Bishop, Sean Gunn, Keiko Agena, and of course Scott Patterson have already been announced, Netflix continues to add cast members by the day. Liza Weil, David Sutcliffe and Yanic Truesdale, have also been confirmed, as have former Rory suitors Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry and now, the latest, Jared Padalecki. (COL)
Michael Fassbender Gets Some Very Funny Company For ‘Alien: Covenant’
Danny McBride is in talks to join the outer-space adventure for director Ridley Scott. It’s a rare foray into dramatic territory for the actor, who’s best known for comedy projects like Eastbound and Down. Katherine Waterston is also in the cast of the Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel, which goes in front of cameras in the spring and hits theaters October 6th, 2017. (SF)
Dev Patel and Armie Hammer In Negotiations For Mumbai Siege Pic ‘Hotel Mumbai’
Film is about the 2008 terrorist attacks on the Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai. Also in negotiations for the film, which is set to go into production in August in India and Australia, are Nazanin Boniadi, Teresa Palmer and Kunal Nayyar. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Anupam Kher also have held early talks with the filmmakers about joining the project. (DH)
Trailer Buzz: ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’
Warner Bros. has released the final trailer to the highly acclaimed comic book adaptation, starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons and a host of others. Directed by Zack Snyder, the movie hits theaters March 25th. (YT)
