‘Flawed’ Movie Adaptation Moving Forward at Warner Bros. With ‘Zoo’ Writer

Studio will proceed on its sci-fi film withRebekah F. Smith tapped to adapt the novel, the first young adult novel from PS, I Love You author Cecelia Ahern. Flawed will be published by Feiwel and Friends on April 5th. Wendy Finerman and Michelle Chydzik will produce the movie, which is set in a world where anyone dubbed disobedient is deemed “flawed.” When a popular teenager stands up for a “flawed,” she becomes an unlikely poster girl for a rebellion. Netflix Orders Joe Swanberg Anthology Series, ‘Easy,’ Starring Orlando Bloom, Aya Cash and More

The streaming giant has greenlit an eight-episode series from Swanberg about a diverse group of Chicago characters going through day-to-day deliberations over love, sex, technology and culture. The comedy will be written, directed and produced by the filmmaker behind Drinking Buddies, Hannah Takes the Stairs and Uncle Kent. (IW)

Netflix Also Finds Its Lemony Snickett For Its Upcoming Adaptation, and He Looks a Lot Like David Puddy

Patrick Warburton has signed on to portray the fictional version of author/narrator Lemony Snicket (real name Daniel Handler) in the streaming service‘s upcoming A Series of Unfortunate Events show. Snicket was previously portrayed by Jude Law in the 2004 movie. Warburton will join headliner Neil Patrick Harris, who is set to star as Count Olaf, along with Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes as Baudelaire orphans Violet and Klaus. (CS)

Cinemax Likes Its New Show ‘Outcast’ So Much, It’s Already Renewed It Three Months Ahead Of Its Premiere

Cable net’s horror show had its world premiere at SXSW, and the premium cabler dropped two pieces of news at the panel afterward. The 10-episode series produced by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and Chris Black will debut June 3rd, and it’s already been renewed for a second season. This comes eight months after the first trailer debuted at Comic-Con. Mark Wahlberg and J.K. Simmons Get Some Impressive Company In Their Upcoming Boston Bombing Film

John Goodman has signed up for a role in Patriot’s Day, and will play Ed Davis, who at the time was the Boston Police Commissioner that co-ordinated with the FBI, the Watertown Police, Massachusetts State Police and local emergency services to identify, track and apprehend the suspects who perpetrated the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15th, 2013. Peter Berg is directing the film. (EMP)

The “Obama In College” Movie Just Added the Stars Of a Couple Recent Oscar-Nominated Flicks

Jason Mitchell and Ellar Coltrane are getting presidential. The Straight Outta Compton star and the Boyhood actor have joined the cast of Barry, which follows Barack Obama in New York in the early 80s, during his college days. Mitchell and Coltrane are joining Anya Taylor-Joy and Devon Terrell, who will be playing the young POTUS. The indie feature will be directed by Vice correspondent Vikram Gandhi from a script by written by Adam Mansbach. Waiting For That Longtime Coming ‘Preacher’ Adaptation On AMC? Well, Now We Finally Have a Premiere Date

Cable net announced today the show will hit the airwaves Sunday, May 22nd at 10 p.m. ET, after the midseason finale of Fear the Walking Dead. It also announced that, if you miss the premiere, then you can try again a week later when it will air again during a back-to-back encore presentation on Sunday, March 29th beginning at 9 p.m. (UR)
