CAA: Writer-directors Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos have signed with the agency. The duo are the writers and director behind the hugely successful 10-part Netflix documentary, Making A Murderer series. The duo began developing the series surrounding the case of convicted murderer Steven Avery while in graduate studies at Columbia University’s School of the Arts MFA film program and the series took a decade to finish. A second season is under consideration at Netflix. The duo were previously without agency representation.
WME: Actor Malachi Kirby has signed with the agency. The Brit actor was cast as Kunta Kinte in A+E Networks’ remake of Roots. The event TV series will air on Lifetime, A+E and the History Channel over the Memorial Day weekend. Kirby also will star in the episode entitled “Men Against Fire” in Netflix’s anticipated new season of Charlie Brooker’s anthology series Black Mirror. On the feature side he will be seen in Fallen, financed by Lotus Entertainment and directed by Scott Hicks.
Abrams: TV personality and reality star Ramona Singer has signed for representation with Abrams Artists Agency’s alternative programming and digital department. Singer will be represented in all areas, including digital and branding, by both the Los Angeles and New York teams. Singer is best known for appearing on The Real Housewives of New York City. She’s an experienced entrepreneur who has launched several businesses, including Ramona Wines, True Faith Jewelry and Tru Renewal SkinCare.
CAA: Trent Dilfer has signed with CAA. He is a former NFL quarterback who played for five teams, including the Super Bowl XXXV-winning Baltimore Ravens. He retired in 2007 and is now an analyst on ESPN and can be heard on the radio from the NFL Draft to the Super Bowl. He’s also been seen on NFL Live, NFL Primetime, SportsCenter and Monday Night Countdown. In addition, he’s the head coach for the top high school quarterback camp Elite 11, whose alumni include Andrew Luck, Matthew Stafford and Jameis Winston.
WME: Singer-songwriter Ben Harper signed with WME who will represent him in all areas. Across his 30-year career he has sold 4.5 million albums in the U.S. He won Grammys for 2013’s Get Up! and 2004’s There Will Be Light. Harper collaborated with his mother, Ellen on his 2014 album called Childhood Home. In April, Harper and the Innocent Criminals will release Call It What It Is on Stax Records, that group’s first studio album in nine years. A tour in support of the new recording kicks off April 2 in New York with stops in Denver, Hollywood, Europe, as well as Australia and New Zealand.
