UTA: Actress Constance Wu has shifted from WME to UTA. She’s earned two Critics’ Choice nominations for her breakout role as Jessica Huang on ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat. The series has been renewed for a third season. Wu began in indie films, appearing in Stephanie Daley, Year of the Fish and Sound of My Voice, as well as the Fox Digital Studios feature Parallels seen on Netflix.
Industry Entertainment: Actor Mark Hamill has signed with Industry Entertainment where he will be managed by partner Dan Spilo. He was without theatrical representation for the past two decades, as he focused on voice-over work. But, with Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens he has returned to acting in front of the camera and will co-star in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII.
WME: Music artist Iggy Azalea has shifted from CAA to WME for worldwide representation. Her next album with Def Jam Recordings, Digital Distortion, is due in June. Her debut studio album, 2014’s The New Classic, climbed to No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with the hit singles “Change Your Life,” “Fancy,” “Work” and “Black Widow.”
CAA: Producer Will Packer along with his shingle, Will Packer Productions, have shifted from UTA to CAA. His recent hits include Ride Along 2, Straight Outta Compton and The Wedding Ringer. Will Packer Productions has deals at Universal Pictures and Universal Television. The company produced NBC’s Truth Be Told and ABC’s upcoming Uncle Buck. Packer also executive produced the upcoming miniseries remake of Roots, to air on History, A&E and Lifetime starting May 30.
WME: Writer-producer-director Dustin Lance Black has signed with WME. Black won the Original Screenplay Oscar in 2009 for writing Milk. He recently created and wrote the upcoming ABC event series and will direct the final two episodes When We Rise, about the gay rights movement.
UTA: Director Fergal Reilly has signed with the agency. He will make his directorial debut co-helming The Angry Birds Movie. Previously he was a veteran with credits including Hotel Transylvania, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and its sequel, Spider-Man 2 as well as head of story at Sony Pictures Animation. He’s also developed projects with Jon Favreau and Richard Linklater as a storyboard supervisor.
WME: Actor Ray Winstone has been signed by WME. His credits include The Gunman, Noah, Snow White And The Huntsman, and the Academy Award-winning The Departed. The actor also received a BAFTA nomination for best actor for his role in Nil By Mouth.
UTA: Writer-director Niki Caro has signed with UTA. She is currently in post-production on Focus Features’ The Zookeeper’s Wife starring Jessica Chastain and Daniel Bruhl, to be released in 2017. Her previous credits include her breakout film Whale Rider, along with McFarland for Disney and North Country for Warner Bros.
WME: Animator Sanjay Patel has signed with WME. He was nominated for an Oscar this year for his short film, based on Patel’s own childhood experience, entitled Sanjay’s Super Team produced by Pixar that accompanied the company’s feature The Good Dinosaur. Previously he was an animator at Pixar and then supervisor on hit films Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, and Ratatouille.
