Following months of speculation, Lady Gaga has officially signed on to star opposite Bradley Cooper in a remake of the film, for which she’ll write and perform original music, it was announced yesterday. Co-stars of Talladefa Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and Step Brothers have signed up to star in the self-explanatory Holmes and Watson. Reilly will be play Watson to Ferrell’s Holmes, in the movie that’s slated to be directed by Etan Cohen, with production gearing up to start after Thanksgiving. (TP)
Univision Spends $135 Million To Purchase Bankrupt Gawker Media
Univision Holdings Inc. is expected to become the new owner of Gawker Media, the online media and blog network currently in bankruptcy. A person familiar with the proceedings said the only other bidder for Gawker, Ziff Davis, withdrew it’s $90 million bid yesterday. The sale to Univision, holder of the leading Spanish-language TV network, will need the approval of a U.S. bankruptcy court judge. (LAT)
‘Sausage Party’ Animators Feud With Nitrogen Studios Over Pay Disputes
According to reports, animators wrote a letter in December to the production company alleging that “unfair pressure tactics” were “used against the team: intimidating staff into working past official studio hours, disciplinary measures utilizing fear tactics that demotivate and cause distress (such as threatening to terminate employment), implying that other departments are working overtime ‘voluntarily’ as a reason to deny compensation.” (IW)
