In the wake of Michael Arndt leaving
Star Wars: The Force Awakens last year, Gary Whitta has now left the still-untitled standalone film. Whitta had worked on the project for a year with director Gareth Edwards. The film is set for a December 16th, 2016 release.

The project will be a female-led sequel to the Steven Spielberg-directed, Tom Cruise-starring 2002 film, and will take place 10 years after the events in that film. Show will follow a “precog” trying to get on with his life who hooks up with a detective haunted by her past.
