While Richard Linklater and Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárittu both got expected nominations, and Wes Anderson and Morten Tyldum as well, Clint Eastwood took the fifth spot, edging out Ava DuVerney. Awards are handed out February 7th.

Four-time Oscar winning auteur’s untitled program (currently using the name "Untitled Woody Allen Project") will include half-hour episodes and already has a full-season order. Allen will write and direct every episode.

The Big Short, from Michael Lewis’ book. McKay will also direct, while Pitt’s Plan B is producing. No timetable yet for when it’s going to happen.

Strangers On a Plane, with Affleck playing an actor on an awards season tour who ends up sharing a private jet with a wealthy psychopath, and sparks fly. Their
Gone Girl writer, Gillian Flynn, is in discussions to write the script.

The e-commerce giant is preparing to make its first film, based on a short story from a writer who was discovered when his work went viral on social media. Meanwhile, the company is plotting to leverage its marketing power to promote its entertainment offerings.

The producer has made an agreement with Universal Cable Productions, which includes the Syfy and USA Networks, both of which have given him blind series commitments. He will develop both scripted and non-scripted programming.
