The Final Guild Award Has Been Handed Out, and the Costume Designers Have Honored ‘Birdman’ (and ‘Grand Budapest’)

Birdman costume designer Albert Wolsky won the award for Excellence in Contemporary Film last night at the 17th annual CDG Awards, while Milena Canonero won for Budapest for Excellence in Period Film. They will square off against each other at the Academy Awards on Sunday. Deadline has the entire list of winners from last night’s event. (DH)

Scarlett Johansson and Universal, So Successful Together With ‘Lucy’, Are Back In Business Again

The actress will star in The Psychopath Test, a film directed by Jay Roach based on the book of the same name by Jon Ronson, who also wrote The Men Who Stare at Goats. The book looks at ways that psychopaths are diagnosed, despite (or because of) their ability to charm and manipulate; the film will be written as a psychological thriller. After Hinting About It For Weeks, It Now Appears That Sam Taylor-Johnson Officially Won’t Return To Direct ‘Grey’ Sequel

She had made very public how the relationship between her and author E.L. James was so fraught with tension, and now the director has decided it was best not to move forward on the franchise's two sequels. Taylor-Johnson made no secret that she disagreed with some of James's decisions regarding the film, and that she didn't approve of James's seemingly carte blanche control over the final product. Long Rumored, Now Confirmed: Javier Bardem Is On Board ‘Pirates 5’

The Oscar-winner will play the bad guy in the fifth installment in the series, once again starring Johnny Depp, with co-stars Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites the obligatory younger, good looking pair involved this time. Kon-Tiki directing pair Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning is at the helm for this one, which has begun production and is scheduled for a July 7th, 2017 release. (EMP)

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Just Keeps Adding More Mutants

Kodi Smit-McPhee has been cast as Nightcrawler in the latest installment of the franchise, a role originated in X2: X-Men United by Alan Cumming. He joins Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, Oscar Isaac and Michael Fassbender in the film, which has begun production. Bryan Singer returns to direct the film, in theaters May 27th, 2016. (VAR)

Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones Get Some Company In Upcoming ‘Inferno’

French actor Omar Sy has joined the Sony project, which will be directed by Ron Howard, from a script penned by David Koepp, and which follows Harvard professor of symbology, Robert Langdon, who awakens in an Italian hospital, disoriented and with no recollection of the past thirty-six hours, including the origin of the macabre object hidden in his belongings. Sy will play head of the SRS team who is ordered to find Langdon. (SAA)

Jason Blum Is Turning To ‘The Mortal Instruments’ Director To Helm His Latest Flick

Harald Zwart, the director of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is on board the family horror film, the latest in a long line of micro budgeted films from the producer’s Blumhouse label. Robert Ben Garant, the writer of another Blumhouse film, Jessabelle, wrote the script for the untitled film. Blum will produce, and the logline is still under wraps. (THR)

So, Colossus Will Be In Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Deadpool’ Movie, But Daniel Cudmore Won’t Be Playing Him

Cudmore played the character in three different X-Men films, including last year’s Days of Future Past, but tweeted out that he won’t be in Deadpool, which is currently filming. The character’s inclusion in the film was first mentioned with the announcement touting Gina Carano’s addition to the cast as a character called Angel Dust. With Cudmore out as Piotr Rasputin, the hunt is surely on for another actor to play the mountainous mutant. (CBR)
