TODAY’S HEADLINES
Michael Bay and Lorenzo di Bonaventura are working with the studio to bring in Goldsman, who would not be writing but assembling and overseeing a “writers room” to hatch an idea for how to tackle a two-part sequel in the film’s franchise in addition to potential spinoffs. Goldsman would likely join Bay, di Bonaventura and Steven Spielberg as a producer.

The
Gone Girl novelist/screenwriter joins the
12 Years a Slave director on the film, which is being produced by New Regency. The yet-to-be-titled heist thriller thriller is based on the 1983 Brit miniseries
Widows, which was penned by Lynda La Plante, and is about a caper gone awry after four armed robbers are killed in a botched heist. Their widows team up to finish what they started.

The Tony Award-winning actress is in final negotiations to join the cast, includes Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince, Luke Evans as the vain villain Gaston, and Josh Gad as Le Fou, Gaston’s buffoonish and loyal sidekick. The live action movie, directed by Bill Condon, is aligning itself closely with the 1991 animated classic. McDonald will be playing Garderobe, the French word for wardrobe.

Hugh Grant also stars in
Florence Foster Jenkins, which tells the true story of a a wealthy woman in high-society NYC in the early 20th century who used her relationships and her fortune to gain traction as a singer. Trouble was, she couldn’t sing; she was plagued by terrible pitch and rhythm and was, unbeknownst to her, ridiculed at her well-attended performances. Helberg will play Cosme McCoon, who became her accompanist on the piano. Stephen Frears directs.

The first look at the upcoming boxing drama, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as the title lefty. Rachel McAdams, Rita Ora, Naomie Harris, Tyrese Gibson, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and boxer-turned-actor Victor Ortiz also star in the film, written by Kurt Sutter and Richard Wenk and directed by Antoine Fuqua. It hits theaters July 31st.

Paramount Pictures has released a new, extended TV spot for the film, which reveals the first footage showing Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons, who plays a police detective in the film. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney and Matt Smith also star in the movie, which will be in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D on July 1st.

HBO’s new miniseries adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s first novel aimed at adults stars Rory Kinnear, Simon McBurney and Michael Gambon. Jonny Campbell directs the miniseries, which premieres on the cable net on April 29th.
