UTA’s Haul Of Talent From CAA Could Number as High as 150 Clients

United Talent’s five new partners and the other agents who made the move from CAA are settling in and have begun reeling in some important clients in play since last week’s shocker. UTA is keeping mum at the moment on who is signing on, but after last week’s move of Will Ferrell, Chris Pratt and Ed Helms, new singings include Zach Galifianakis and Jonathan Krisel, Thomas Lennon & Ben Garant, Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, documenatarian Charlie Siskel, and British director James Bobin. Weinstein Co. Selling TV Division to ITV in Potential $950 Million Deal

Deal, if it is finalized, could be worth as much as $950 million. It includes an up-front payment of $300 to $400 million and an escalating package of compensation and bonuses that would nearly triple the initial purchase price, according to sources. TWC would remain as managers of the company, which has hired several new television executives to oversee the growth.  (THR)

‘Doctor Who’ Fans Can Relax, BBC Is Keeping the Show Around At Least Through 2020

Show’s executive producer Steven Moffat made the announcement that the long-running British sci-fi show will stay on the air for at least another five years. Moffat told Doctor Who Magazine that the BBC’s plans for the show extend to 2020. Doctor Who continues to be a major ratings draw for BBC America. The most recent season was the most popular yet among U.S. viewers, attracting an average of 2.3 million viewers. (EW)

John Legend Is Getting His Producer Hat On, Will Get Behind a New Musical Romantic Drama

The musician, who won an Oscar and other prizes for his original song Glory, is set to produce a musical romantic drama via his Get Lifted Film Co. along with IM Global and Furst Films. Recording artist Miguel is in negotiations to star in the yet-untitled movie, which will tell the story of a former one-hit wonder who reconnects with his love for music when he's hired to coach an aspiring singer for her audition on a competitive TV show. Gervais will also star in Special Correspondents, which co-stars Eric Bana. Bana plays a struggling, but arrogant New York-based radio journalist who, with his job on the line and decadent lifestyle not helping things, fakes frontline war reports from his hideout in Manhattan.  (TOH)

Incorporated is a futuristic espionage thriller from Damon and Affleck’s Pearl Street Productions, CBS Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions. Set in a future where companies have unlimited power, show tells the story of executive Ben Larson, forced to change his identity in order to infiltrate a cut-throat corporate world, to save the woman he loves. Staring Down a Class Action Suit, Warner Bros. Asserts Its First Amendment Rights In Hunt For Copyright Pirates

The studio is facing a proposed class-action lawsuit that alleges it has abused subpoenas and allowed representatives to make robocalls to cell phones demanding settlements. The legal action accuses RIghtscorp (which represents copyright holders like WB), Warner Bros and BMG Rights Management of abusing the legal process by seeking subpoenas to identify the IP addresses of those flagged for sharing copyrighted films and television shows.
