This Year’s Tribeca Film Festival Announced Its Winners Last Night

Virgin Mountain, written and directed by Dagur Kári, won the top award in the World Narrative Competition for Best Narrative Feature, while Democrats, from director Camilla Nielsson, won the respective award in the World Documentary Competition. Indiewire has the full list. (IW)

Just In Case You Were Even Remotely In Doubt, Vin Diesel Just Confirmed ‘Fast & Furious 8’

Talking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas yesterday, Diesel revealed that they are aiming to get the next movie into theaters on April 14, 2017. No other details came out, but it’s safe to assume that Universal has a plan in place, considering the plan to get the film into theaters in two years’ time. (CB)

The ‘Fifty Shades’ Sequels Now Have Release Dates, So Set Your Calendars For 2017 and 2018

Though there is still no director attached, and the screenwriter for the second film — author E.L. James’ husband Niall Leonard — has only just been hired, Universal has set that second film, Fifty Shades Darker for February 10th, 2017, and the third and final film in the trilogy, Fifty Shades Freed for February 9, 2018. Stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are expected to return for both films. (SF)

The series were among those featured yesterday at the network’s upfront presentation. Norwood plays a single mom embarking on a new life and career as a fledgling cosmetics mogul in romantic comedy Zoe Moon. Former Destiny Child’s member Rowland searches for “the next big female superstar group to make their mark in a dog-eat-dog music industry” in reality series Chasing Destiny. (DH)

In Digital News, AOL Renews Steve Buscemi’s Online Talk Show, ‘Park Bench’

The tech company has picked up a second season of web series Park Bench with Steve Buscemi, a "talking show" that features the actor touring New York City and talking to celebrity friends and everyday people on the same park bench. In its second season, the show will feature appearances from Elvis Costello, John Oliver, Amber Tamblyn, Robert Smigel, Jim Jarmusch, David Blaine and others. (THR)
