The production company has reached agreement with Hendrix’s estate, Experience Hendrix, for the rights to his music, and is now moving forward with what it hopes will be the ultimate film on the man whose guitar wizardry and psychedelic fashion sense made him one of the most iconic stars in rock history. Scott Silver is writing the script, and Greengrass will probably direct this after he handles the next Jason Bourne film, with Matt Damon.

Captain America: Civil War in Atlanta (see clip directly below) and will be experimenting with the IMAX/ARRI Digital camera on the shoot in preparation for the nine month shoot of the two-part Infinity War, which will be written by
Civil War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The first of those opens in May, 2018.

Early Man (previously known as
Early Man, Utd., or

Dug), the stop-motion-animated comedy is said to not be totally focused on the sport, but that’s an important component and the movie is aiming for a World Cup-timed release in 2018. Mark Burton and John O’Farrell are currently credited with the screenplay for now.

In an interview yesterday on the syndicated
Dr. Oz Show, the actor said that the film, scheduled for release March 3rd, 2017, will mark his final appearance in the role. He had previously said he wanted to play the character until he dies, but last month, he sent out an Instagram picture suggesting this would be it. He may still appear in next year’s
X-Men: Apocalypse, but there is no confirmation about that.

One of the stars of this summer’s
San Andreas has come aboard William H. Macy’s road trip comedy, opposite Kate Upton. The two will play a pair of lifelong best friends who decide to avoid their problems by taking a vacation, only to find that their plane has been rerouted due to a hurricane warning. Rob Corddry, Kal Penn, Matt Jones and Matt Barr also star.

Paramount has removed the film from its release schedule and says that, while the project remains in development, it is not moving forward as quickly as had been recently hoped. Eddie Murphy remains attached to the project, though no word on what the next step will be.

Based on the first book in a trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer, Garland's script regards a team exploring the mysterious Area X, and it becomes a surreal sci-fi story. The project is set up at Paramount with Scott Rudin producing, and Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton are also apparently up for roles in the project.

The former Focus Features chief is ramping up his production company, Symbolic Exchange. In his first major hire, Schamus has tapped Joe Pirro to serve as head of production. Pirro, who did a stint at Focus, arrives at Symbolic from The Weinstein Co., where he was a creative executive. In another move, Schamus has promoted Lily Spottiswoode to development coordinator.
