Steve Jobs was more than a great visionary whose Apple products have certainly made a “dent in our universe.” He deserved as much credit for his innovative leadership in ushering in a whole new Golden Era of cinema storytelling. After all, for a five million dollar purchase from George Lucas, Steve bought into Ed Catmull’s and John Lasseter’s vision for the storytelling potential of Pixar, when the market thought their only value was their Renderman hardware.

Based on Liane Moriarty's book
Big Little Lies, Kelley penned the script for the limited series — which will star the two Oscar winners and was taken out to premium cablers and streaming services in November. Published in July, Kidman and her Blossom Films banner, as well as Witherspoon and her Pacific Standard shingle, optioned the rights in August. Story centers on three mothers of kindergartners whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to to the point of murder.

The director of
Take Shelter and
Mud, as well as this fall’s
Midnight Special, will take on the drama inspired by the documentary
The Loving Story directed by Nancy Buirski. That film which was about a racially-charged criminal trial and a heart-rending mixed-race love story during the turbulent Civil Rights era. Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga will star in Nichols’ film.

Jolie’s third film will star her and her real-life husband Brad Pitt as fictional spouses attempting to mend their broken marriage. Vacationing in France, writer Roland (Pitt) and former dancer Vanessa (Jolie) stop at a seaside village and deal with their marital issues with the help of a few locals. The studio is putting the movie in theaters November 13th, in the heart of awards season.

Apatow, whose new film —
Trainwreck with Amy Schumer — comes out this summer, is currently working on an adaptation of Phil Klay‘s National Book Award-winning short story collection about American soldiers at war and at home. Apatow is working with Klay himself to adapt the book which delves into the kinds of messy and intimate situations that don’t get covered in the mainstream media, but that inform the lives of soldiers past and present.

The Oscar winner is set to play Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in
On the Basis Of Sex, with Marielle Heller in negotiations to direct. The script, which follows the travails of Ginsburg as she faced numerous obstacles to her fight for equal rights throughout her career, was on the 2014 Black List and written by Daniel Stiepleman. Robert W. Cort is producing with Ron Bergman exec producing.

The actor will be playing Robin Friday, the ill-starred but supremely louche Reading and Cardiff striker, in the long-gestating film of his life. He has also signed on to return for the
Snow White and The Huntsman sequel,
The Huntsman, in the role of Snow White’s love interest, William. The Friday story tells the tale of the legendary soccer player, who lit up the Premier League in the 1970s.

Dawson was a prime member of the cast of the hit show’s first season, and now her new deal will also allow her to appear across all of their other Netflix shows, including
A.K.A. Jessica Jones,
Luke Cage, and
Iron Fist. Season two of
Marvel’s Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in 2016 along with
Marvel’s Luke Cage.
Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones will debut on the platform later this year.

While the 2012 version, directed by the Farrelly Brothers, only did $54 million worldwide on a $30 million budget, Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso will return as the signature trio, with Cameron Fay writing the script. The Farrelly Brothers are not attached to this version, which is being produced by C3, Grand Peaks and The Exchange.
