‘Age Of Ultron’ Wins a Second Straight Week, Clears $300 Million In Just 10 Days

Only the first Avengers film and The Dark Knight were faster to the mark. The sequel did over $77 million in its second weekend, easily beating Hot Pursuit, which opened to a disappointing $13.3 million. Lionsgate's The Age of Adaline, Universal's Furious 7 and Sony's Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, rounded out the top five. (BO)

After 15 Years, ‘American Idol’ Is Finally Coming To a Close After Next Season’s Show

Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban will return as Season 15 judges, along with host Ryan Seacrest. While searching for the final “Idol” superstar, the last season will also serve as a “celebratory event,” paying tribute to fourteen seasons of contestants, winners and fans. The show, created by Simon Fuller, first debuted in 2002 with original judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. (VAR)

With ‘Tomorrowland’ About To Hit Theaters, Brad Bird Confirms His Next Film Will Be an ‘Incredibles’ Sequel

Bird, who also directed Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, said in an interview that he is writing The Incredibles 2 and that it will definitely be his next project. Bird won a Best Animated Feature Oscar for writing and directing the first Incredibles in 2004, then won another in the same category three years later for Ratatouille. (COL)

Prepare For Another Dwayne Johnson Sci-Fi Action Comedy, Courtesy Of DreamWorks

Studio won a bidding war from the project, called Alpha Squad Seven, from Jeremiah Friedman and Nick Palmer, with Beau Flynn producing via his FlynnPictureCo. banner along with Johnson, who will produce through his 7 Bucks Productions. Project is described as four-quadrant action-comedy adventure set in space. (THR)

‘John Wick’ Directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch Corral Charlize Theron For Their Cold War Thriller

The duo will adapt Anthony Johnston's novel The Coldest City, with Kurt Johnstead writing the screenplay. Movie is about a female British spy tasked with recovering a list of secret agents on both sides in the last days of the Cold War. The directing pair are also developing a John Wick sequel, as well. Edgar Wright Snags Lily James To Ride Passenger In His New Movie, ‘Baby Driver’

Ansel Elgort also stars in the project, which will chronicle the high-speed, musically influenced life of a young getaway driver (Elgort), who grooves to his personal soundtrack on jobs to keep him at the top of his game. But when he’s coerced into working for a crime boss on a doomed heist, his entire world is put into danger. (EMP)

Filmmaker Vincenzo Natali Will Take a Walk ‘In the Tall Grass’, Adapt Stephen King’s Novella To the Big Screen

The original horror story, written by King and his writer son, Joe Hill, appeared in two parts in Esquire magazine in 2012. Story follows a young man and his pregnant sister as they drive through Kansas, and when they investigate a strange sound in the tall grass, bad things start to happen. (SC)
