What began as something of a Hail Mary reboot became something that would have lasting and far-reaching aftereffects. It's a story of desperate ambition, shocking triumph, and fevered imagination. But it's also a cautionary tale: one about pushing limits too far, holding on too long, and learning to accept the forces of entropy.
