Japanese lifestyle company Sanrio is planning to finance and produce a feature based on the character and release it globally in 2019. The film will go through Sanrio’s recently established U.S. subsidiary. The project will have an expected budget of anywhere from $160 million-$240 million, including P&A, according to Sanrio execs.

French media group Vivendi has ousted Belmer, replacing him with Saada, who was executive vp of CanalPlus Group and head of pay TV, and was promoted to replace Belmer after he was "relieved of his responsibilities" by the board. In addition, CanalPlus CFO Gregoire Castaing has joined the pay TV channel's management board.

The writer-actor’s comedy pilot has added Brian Tyree Henry, Lakeith Lee Stanfield and Zazie Beetz, along with Glover himself, who created and wrote the pilot. Show revolves around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy, says the press release.

Shepard and co-star Michael Peña will play Don Baker and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello respectively, with Shepard also writing and directing. Vincent D’Onofrio is also on board, and it’s possible Shepard’s wife Kristen Bell will also join the cast. No official word yet on filming dates.

The two leading VFX companies have joined forces, giving the two entities a combined staff of over 525 VFX and animation staff at their studios in London, Vancouver and Montreal. Cinesite opened its doors in London in 1994 and has worked on films like
X-Men: Days of Future Past and the
Harry Potter series, while Image Engine, founded in Vancouver in 1995, has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality visual effects for film and high-end television.

All of those items destined to hog up the top spots of end of the year list? Half of them are already in circulation. It doesn't seem possible, though. With all the cool movies, shows, albums books, and more on the way just in July, this year looks to be anything but front-loaded with essentials.
