Chris Miller and Phil Lord (The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street movies) are tackling one of Star Wars anthology movies as their next directing project. The filmmaker team, who write, direct and produce, are stepping up to helm a movie that will focus on a young Han Solo, according to sources. (THR)

Taylor Hackford Stands Up To Direct Robert De Niro In His Passion Project ‘The Comedian’

Taylor Hackford is set to direct Robert De Niro in his passion project The Comedian, written by Art Linson.  Mike Newell recently exited the project due to scheduling.  Linson will produce the film along with Cinelou’s Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon. Cinelou, which funded the Jennifer Aniston-starrer Cake, is financing the picture.  (DH)

Box-Office Preview: 'Minions' Could Match 'Toy Story 3' With $110M U.S. Debut

The Despicable Me spinoff already boasts an early foreign total of $125.1 million and is expected to boost the North American box office this weekend with one of the biggest three-day debuts of all time for an animated film.  The film is tracking to open in the $100 million-$110 million range.  (THR)

Harry Shearer Staying on ‘The Simpsons’ After Inking New Deal

Harry Shearer has negotiated a new deal and will be returning to The Simpsons. Shearer will continue to lend his voice to the characters of Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Waylon Smithers and Principal Skinner on the Fox series through seasons 27 and 28. (VAR)

Dark Horse Comics Team with Universal Cable to Adapt their Extensive Library to Television

Dark Horse Comics has struck a deal with Universal Cable Productions to adapt some of the titles from their library to television. Among the first titles set to be adapted include My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way’s hit series The Umbrella Academy, Cullen Bunn’s recently-published Harrow County, Paul Chadwick’s Eisner Award-winning Concrete, and Back Up, based on a feature script from Tom Vaughn. HITMAN: AGENT 47 Reveals New Poster and Teaser Videos

Hitman: Agent 47 , directed by Aleksander Bach, opens in theaters August 21st.  The film highlights the title assassin as he uncovers hidden truths about his genetically engineered origins and uses his skills to stop a mega-corporation from unleashing an army of trained killers.
