Get Ready for a Bunch of Breaking Bad & Louie Writer/Director Emmy Nominations

SSN dives into this year’s most-likely-to-be-nominated drama and comedy series writers and directors. (SSN)

The Amazing Race? Actually, it’s more like Same Old Race in Emmy Reality Competition Face-Off

The reality of the Outstanding Reality Competition race is that we see the same faces every year, and with few exceptions, the same face in the winner’s circle, too. And by virtue of its unexpected victory a year ago, The Voice is now seen as the prohibitive favorite. (SSN)

Cicely Tyson, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Idris Elba Enliven the Emmy Movie/Miniseries Acting Races

One thing that even the TV Academy brain trust will acknowledge when it comes to Emmy Awards shortcomings is the woeful record in honoring black performers. It’s gratifying then that there’ll likely be some real (rather than token) black representation this year in the longform acting races. (SSN)

In Longform Emmy Races, The Normal Heart and Fargo Lead the Movie and Miniseries Charge

After three years, our long national nightmare is over. The Outstanding Made-For-TV Movie and Outstanding Miniseries lineups are—after having been merged—again separate, now that enough miniseries are being produced to justify their own category. (SSN)

Expect a Lot Of Scandal, Good Wife & Masters Of Sex Contenders for Emmy Guest Drama Actor Glory

It’s tough to tell the difference between a supporting player and a guest in the Outstanding Drama Guest Actor/Actress contenders list. Still, there are some particularly strong competitors vying this time. SSN takes a look. (SSN)

It’s the Saturday Night Live Hosts Against the Scripted Comedy Cameos in the Wacky Emmy Guest Actor Contests

Long gone are the days when an Oscar-winning legend showed up, said a couple of words, and automatically won an Emmy. Now it’s a real race, even if that race is between wildly unequal performances. SSN’s analysis is here. (SSN)
