Mariah Carey has left CAA to sign with UTA, where she will be repped in all areas including music, touring, film, television, digital, licensing and endorsements. Carey is currently maintaining a Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace to run through next year before leaving for a European tour in the spring, which UTA will coordinate. In the fall, Carey will direct a TV movie for Hallmark. She continues to be managed in all areas by Stella Bulochnikov of Wikked TV.
Amy Schumer has left her management firm Mosaic where she was managed by Mosaic principal Jimmy Miller. There hasn't been any announcement as to if she's signing with another firm. Her recent film, Trainwreck, opened to $30 million and has grossed over $68 million domestically. She will continue to be repped by UTA and Schreck Rose, and by APA for touring.
Kate Walsh has also jumped ship at CAA and has signed with WME. She’s best known for her role as Dr. Addison Montgomery on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and starring in the spinoff Private Practice which ran for six seasons. She can next be seen in the Paramount film Staten Island Summer produced by Lorne Michaels.
Director of Photography Niels Alpert has signed with agent Bill Dispoto at Dattner Dispoto and Associates for representation. He formerly was a DP on USA’s White Collar before going over to TV Land’s new series, The Jim Gaffigan Show.
Collective Digital Studio has signed rock band Boyce Avenue, a group with seven million subscribers and over two billion views on YouTube. “We joined YouTube only two years after its launch, before being a YouTube star was a thing,” said the band in a statement. “We knew this was a platform from which we could share our music internationally with our fans in a very direct and personal way.”
Australian comedian Jim Jefferies has signed with Brillstein Entertainment Partners, but will continue to be repped by UTA. The comedian broke out after his 2009 HBO special I Swear To God. He then co-created and starred in a semi-autobiographical sitcom, Legit, which lasted two seasons on FX and FXX. Last year Netflix released his special, Jim Jefferies: Bare and most recently he was seen on Why? With Hannibal Buress on Comedy Central.
Professional Ultimate Disc League champion and YouTube celebrity Brodie Smith signed with Abrams Artists Agency’s Alternative Programming and Digital division. The agency will represent him for digital opportunities and merchandising and will work alongside Whistle Sports, Smith’s network on brand-integration, sponsorship and social-influencer deals. Smith has amassed over 1.1 million YouTube subscribers, amassing more than 135 million views.
