BWR: Mariah Carey will now be repped by BWR Public Relations. The world renowned singer is planning an eight-episode docuseries on her private life with E! entitled Mariah’s World. On the features side she has written a story as the basis of an Untitled Christmas Project with New Line and RatPac. Her past films include Lee Daniel’s The Butler and Precious.
WME: Actress Jessica Biel has shifted from CAA to WME. She recently produced the feature Devil and the Deep Blue Sea which she also starred in opposite Jason Sudeikis, and will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. She also recently wrapped A Kind of Murder for Killer Films with Patrick Wilson. Her credits include The Illusionist, The A-Team, and Valentine’s Day.
Abrams: Actor Balthazar Getty has signed with Abrams Artists Agency. He will be seen in the upcoming Twin Peaks revival on Showtime. He was previously on Brothers & Sisters and was a series regular on season five of Alias.
WME: Steven Tyler has shifted from CAA to WME, where he will be repped in all areas. Paradigm will continue to represent Aerosmith for touring. In addition to selling 150 million records sold worldwide as part of the rock band Aerosmith, he also began Janie’s Fund which will partner with Youth Villages to fund programs that treat sexually abused children. He will also release his first solo album later this year from country label Dot Records/Big Machine.
CAA: U.K.-based independent production company Arrow Media has signed with CAA. Its credits include shows on American networks such as Science Channel’s Aliens: The Definitive Guide and Investigation Discovery’s ID Films: Inside Waco. In 2014, NatGeo simulcast Arrow’s award winning Live From Space, and Discovery will air its BAFTA-nominated documentary Sherpa later this year.
Abrams: Reality star Ramona Singer has signed with Abrams Artists Agency. She is currently on Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York which returns for its eighth season. She will work with Abrams on digital and branding opportunities. Aside from TV, her businesses include Ramona Wines, True Faith Jewelry and Tru Renewal Skincare.
ICM: Nonfiction storytelling incubator Matter Studios has signed with ICM Partners. The company is owned by online publishing platform Medium. They were previously known as Medium’s National Magazine Award-winning longform unit. The studio will finance and guide unique voices to develop their own brands via various platforms, including podcasts, books, live events and streaming television.
UTA: Author Ta-Nehisi Coates has signed with UTA for film and television projects. The author won the National Book Award for Between the World and Me, about being an African-American man in today’s America written as a letter to his teenage son. He is also a national correspondent for The Atlantic, where he won multiple awards including a National Magazine Award for the cover story, “The Case for Reparations.” In addition, he has written the Black Panther comic book for Marvel and has scripted part of David Simon’s upcoming HBO civil rights mini-series Parting the Waters.
CAA: TV producer Daniel Levy has signed with CAA. He is the co-creator, executive producer/showrunner and co-star of the comedy series Schitt’s Creek, which he created with his father, Eugene Levy that airs on Pop. It has been renewed for a third season, slated to begin production this month. The series won nine awards at the 2016 Canadian Screen Awards including Best Comedy Series, and a writing trophy for Daniel Levy.
UTA: Actor-comedian Billy Eichner has shifted from WME to UTA. He is the star, executive producer and creator of truTV’s Funny or Die-produced variety sketch series Billy on the Street. He also stars with Julie Klausner on the Hulu original comedy series Difficult People, executive produced by Amy Poehler. The actor will next be seen in the Universal Pictures comedy Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and will be heard as the voice of Chef Pig and Phillip, in Sony Pictures’ The Angry Birds Movie.
ICM: Writer-director Matthew Cherry has signed with ICM Partners to be represented in all areas. He was previously a NFL player. In 2012, he made his first feature film as a writer-director with The Last Fall, which won screenwriting and directing awards at film festivals and sold during SXSW to Image Entertainment. He returned to SXSW this year with his low-budget feature 9 Rides.
