Although September is the month where countless fall shows premiere and duke it out for series orders, there are still plenty of roles that are just waiting for that certain actor to bring the character to life. Below SSN has complied the TV Grid list of the lead roles that are currently open on premium cable shows along with the directors in charge of casting. Good luck!
OUTCAST
Companies: Cinemax (Network) Fox Int’l, Circle of Confusion (Production Co.) Dates: November through December 2014 Casting Director: Laray Mayfield , Julie Schubert Logline: After assisting Reverend Anderson in the exorcism of a child, Kyle Barnes finally realizes what he's denied all his life: the three separate instances of child abuse were in fact supernatural in their essence, and he is, for reasons unknown, a demon magnet.
Kyle (Male 30-35): Kyle’s handsome but hasn’t showered in days and is a disheveled mess. He became a social outcast when he took the blame for his child’s injuries to protect his wife and now he’s severely depressed. But after helping with an exorcism he realizes that he's in a supernatural war and finally can fight back.
Reverend Anderson (Male 40-59): He is the weary local preacher who smokes, swears, drinks, gambles and has a short temper. He believes in demons and knows they have taken over his hometown. He’s determined to use his smarts, compassion, and deep faith of God to take them down.
LAUGHS UNLIMITED
Companies: HBO (Network) Dates: October/November Casting Director: Laura Rosenthal , Mark Bennett Logline: A combat medic returns from war to find her husband divorcing her and taking her daughter, and she hides her PTSD to get a job as a Sacramento police officer. Note- this is a drama, not a comedy.
Steven (Male 30-35): Billie’s husband and Penny’s dad and works as a prison guard. He’s trying his utmost to help his wife get back into normal life after the war, but it’s not an easy road.
Penny (Female, 5): She is Billie and Steven's young daughter. While she’s fine when talking to her mom over the phone, she’s petrified when her mom comes home because she forgot what she looks like.
TRUE DETECTIVE
Companies: HBO (Network) Dates: o/a October- end of January Casting Director: Libby Goldstein , Junie Lowry Johnson Logline: When the corrupt City Manager of a small city in LA County involved in a trailblazing deal that would change California freeway grid-lock is found murdered, three law enforcement officers from different sectors will go deeper and deeper to find out the truth.
Jordan Semyon (Female, 35): She’s the sultry, incredibly intelligent wife of Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn). She has the poise of a diplomat and she's charming with a devious and mercurial edge.
NEW WORLD
Companies: HBO (Network) Lionsgate TV (Studio) Dates: Possible September through October 2014 Casting Director: Jennifer Euston Logline: Explores the circumstances surrounding a time when intolerance and repression set neighbor against neighbor and led the town of Salem to mass hysteria.
Thomas Putnam (Male, 45): He’s the leader and quite the powerful man in town. He is Ann and Robert’s father. After a bad deal with Israel, he uses underhanded methods to get his land back.
Israel Porter (Female, 17): He’s the dignified business man who bought the iron works factory from Thomas Putnman and doesn’t care for the man.
Ann Putnam Jr. (Female 15): She is Thomas' daughter and one crafty seductress. She convinces Moses to testify against Israel in order to help her dad get the iron works factory back.
Minister Samuel Parris (Male, 38): The town minister who’s really depressed because his sermons don’t amount to any change in the town. He’s also humiliated by his daughter Betty's outbursts.
Betty Parris (Female, 12): Samuel's daughter who becomes possessed and begins seeing horrible visions of crow heads on human bodies throughout the town.
Henry Paine (Male, 24): Fresh off the boat from England, he moves to Salem to meet up with his uncle and get a brand new start on life.
Mercy Lewis (Female, 17): She is a young maid in Maine who has a crush on the handsome town reverend, George. When the town’s attacked, she’s forced to be the Native American’s prisoner but fights her way out and escapes into the forest.
UNT. STEVE MCQUEEN PROJECT
Companies: HBO (Network) RSTV (Production Co.) Dates: October 2014 Casting Director: Richard Hicks , Cindy Tolan , Francine Maisler Logline: An exploration of young African American man Beverly’s experience of entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems.
Esther (Female 48-58): Smart, sexy and rich, she lives on Park Avenue. She and the charismatic Beverly (lead) have a synergetic, comfortable relationship.
Harriet (Female 19-28): She one of the most gorgeous women in the world. Her curiosity is finally peeked when she finally finds a man who doesn’t bore her- the impressive and captivating Beverly. Note- only open to non-Caucasian and must be taller than 5’5”.
Jared (Male 40-45): The average looking owner of an upscale club, who’s intrigued by Beverly. He’s rich, but doesn’t conspicuously suggest it. He keeps his outfits casual, but with just a hint of flair to suggest wealth.
PJ Buckley (Male 25-38): A boyish Irish cop and closet homosexual/bisexual with a crush on Beverly. He’s aware that being a cop also means having power and influence.
Thick (Female 50-55): She’s a Jewish, smart, sexy, full-figured woman who’s seen a lot of life and married to a successful lawyer with children. She once had a one night stand with Beverly.
VIRTUOSO
Companies: HBO (Network) Dates: January Casting Director: Nina Gold , Kathleen Chopin Logline: Based in a prestigious, fledging music academy in Vienna in 1791 amidst political unrest, Italian composer Antonio Salieri trains young adult music prodigies to become Europe's next musical sensation - and their wealthy patrons seek to win royal favor through their protégés' talents.
Leonid Belarusov (Male, 22): A music instructor who’s an excellent cellist. He’s a trim and striking and a touch androgynous.
Franz Engel (Male, 17): Good looking but poor violinist who must travel playing his violin for money.
Isidoro Aguilas (Male, 21): A guitar and flute prodigy brought up in a rural Spanish town with a dark family history of schizophrenia. He’s talented and handsome and enjoys sex with no shortage of partners. Note- must have authentic European accent and know at least one European language. Nudity involved.
Marie Delacroix (Female, 18): French soprano prodigy from a respected, wealthy Catholic family in Paris in the middle of the revolution. She’s a virgin but knows how to use her attractiveness to her own ends. Note- must have authentic European accent and know at least one European language. Nudity involved.
Heinrich Von Faust (Male, 22): A handsome, Austrian Piano aristocrat prodigy who’s immaculately dressed. Due to a toxic relationship with his father he’s cold to the world around him although has a resilient spirit. Note- must have authentic British or European accent. Nudity involved.
BILLIONS
Companies: Showtime (Network) Showtime (Studio) Dates: October through November 2014 Casting Director: Avy Kaufman Logline: A drama about the collision and collusion between an aggressive U.S. attorney in New York and some of the richest hedge fund billionaires in the country.
Chuck Rhodes (Male 40-45): he's the U.S. attorney of a New York district that’s handsome and devoted to his job, albeit with a dark side. He wants to bring down Axe’s firm after hearing about some illegal activity, but is hesitant because his wife Wendy works there.
Wendy Rhodes (Female 35-45): The wife of Chuck and in-house psychiatrist for Axe's firm is beautiful, smart and has a professional demeanor during the day and moonlights as a dominatrix.
Lara Axlerod (Female 35-39): She is the stunning, fresh-faced and beautifully dressed wife of Axe. She grew up far away in a blue-collar, big Irish family in one house.
ROADIES
Companies: Showtime (Network) Warner Bros TV (Studio) Bad Robot, Vinyl Films (Production Co.) Dates: December through January 2015 Casting Director: Gail Levin Logline: Follows a hot-ticket tour, but with a simple twist: the band is in the background and the roadies take the spotlight in this single camera comedy.
Kelly Ann (Female, 24): Radiate, driven, athletic, feminine and an excellent electrical tech. She’s respected, and has a great heart, but not the best people skills.
Bill Thompson (Male 35-39): The tour manager with an athletic build and tattooed sleeves. He’s overworked and tired. He’s 5 years sober and has a good team member in Sherri.
Sherri Anderson (Female 30-39): The band’s production manager is beautiful, tough, sexy, smart and highly-efficient, she hides her banging body under work clothes. Practically built for the road she works well with men but doesn’t trust women.
Jeffo (Male, 24): This adorable, lovable, handsome guy has spent one too many years on the road and is beginning to tear at the seams emotionally speaking. On the cusp of a breakdown, he wears his heart on his sleeve.
Reg Whitehead (Male 26-34): A brilliant businessman from England, he’s been sent over by the higher ups to reign in the finances. He comes from a upscale family and has a background in sports and real estate, not music.
Milo (Male, 32): The guitar tech is handsome with an interesting, rockin’ look. He might be American, but after years on Elvis Costello's crew, he’s developed a would-be British accent. Note- prefers talent that can play guitar.
BLUNT TALK
Companies: Starz (Network) MRC (Studio) Fuzzy Door Prod (Production Co.) Dates: December through January 2015 Casting Director: Jeanne Mccarthy , Nicole Abellera Logline: The host of his own talk show, the infrequently sober but legendary Brit Walter Blunt (Patrick Stewart) is a public relations nightmare whose latest escapade threatens his job and those of his production team.
Harry Chandler (Male 65-75): He’s Blunt's driver and best-friend, who served in the Royal Marines with him. Short and squat, he likes to drink and can easily charm women. Note- must be able to do a cockney accent.
Jim Klein (Male 35-45): The head writer of the show is madly smart, with a short temper, and deeply insecure. He has odd hobbies and he’s a hoarder. He's not afraid to stand up to Walter, but prone to backing off quickly. He's single but always looking.
Rosalie (Female 55-65): Blunt’s producer-manager oversees his career and helps shape the show. She and Walter been working together for twenty years, but once they made love. She is straight-talking, stern and motherly with him.
Sarah Havemeyer (Female 30-40): A Yale grad and the head producer/writer of the show. She’s an idealist who deeply believes in her work. She has S&M fantasies about her secret crush Jim.
THE ONE PERCENT
Companies: Starz (Network) MRC (Studio) Dates: possibly January Casting Director: Francine Maisler Logline: Follows downtrodden farmer Alfred Murphy as he struggles to hold onto his family and his farm, when a bizarre twist of fate becomes a life-changing secret that will either save them or ruin them.
James (Male, 21): Alfred’s son isn’t the smartest but admires his grandfather’s passion.
Abigail (Female, 16): Alfred’s daughter who takes more after her dad than her mom.
POWER
Companies: Starz (Network) CBS TV Studios (Studio) Atmosphere Ent, Cheetah Vision Films (Production Co.) Dates: September through October 2014 Casting Director: Christine Kromer Logline: James “Ghost” St. Patrick is a wealthy nightclub owner who wants to build an empire and turn the club into a Fortune 500 business, but he's living a double life as the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York.
Miguel (Male 40-45): The handsome new Chief of the Crime Division who’s an alpha male who leads any room he’s in. He moved from Southern California to NY to make sure the investigation is run correctly. Note- Only accepting Latin actors who are fluent in Spanish. Possible nudity involved.
