The studio and Witherspoon’s Pacific Standard ended last night very close to winning a book rights auction to
Ashley’s War: The Untold Story of a Team of Women Soldiers on the Special Ops Battlefield, a Gayle Tzemach Lemmon book that Harper will publish late next month. It’s the story of the creation by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command of a pilot program that allowed elite women soldiers on the battlefield with Green Berets and Army Rangers in Afghanistan in 2010.

Fox has shelved the project, a remake of the popular BBC show that starred Idris Elba and was created by Neil Cross, because it has been unable to find the right actor to fill Elba’s considerable shoes. Marlon Wayans was apparently considered, but dismissed. Now, the network is going to wait until pilot season is over to reassess the situation.

Word has come down that the studio is planning to shoot the third film in the trilogy this fall in Vancouver, with
Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski returning to helm the new film, alongside star Garrett Hedlund. The 2010 film earned more than $400 million at the worldwide box office.

Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will bring at least 20 new titles. These will range from novels to young adult titles to stickerbooks, each containing Easter Eggs that hint at events in
The Force Awakens. Del Rey, DK and Marvel Comics will be among the book's publishers, and while storyline details are under wraps, the idea is to raise anticipation for the picture.
