Julia Roberts is attached to produce and star in the narrative feature, through her Red Om Films banner, along with partners Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill. Nathan will executive produce the narrative feature, which will be overseen by Michael Disco and Josh Mack at New Line.

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had discussed a plan to conclude the show in 2017 at the conclusion of the seventh season. A few months ago, HBO took a step toward reaching that mark by optioning the cast for another two rounds. Now, HBO programming president Michael Lombardo has stated that he would like the show to go 10 seasons.

Get Shorty helmer Sonnenfeld has signed on to an adaptation of the real-life ruse, mounted by enigmatic magician and skeptic James "The Amazing" Randi. Known as "Project Alpha," the deception employed two fake psychics to fool paranormal researchers into believing they could bend spoons, blow fuses, and move objects inside sealed, transparent containers. Producers Justin Weinstein and Tyler Measom recounted it in their documentary
An Honest Liar.
