This past weekend, SALLOWEST hit Santa Monica. The event had 37 New York Times Bestselling authors and 36 local and acclaimed authors and artists among many others fielding questions at panels, book signings and workshops. To wrap-up the event SSN picked eight YA novels ripe for adaptation.

The BFG the very first time Spielberg is directing a Disney-branded movie. The adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel will star Mark Rylance as the title character and Ruby Barnhill as Sophie, the young orphan who travels to Giant Country. The film will also feature Penelope Wilton, Rebecca Hall, Bill Hader and Jemaine Clement.

Battlestar Galactica alumna is set to topline another drama set in the future, this one her own creation. Sackhoff has teamed with
Continuum producer Reunion Pictures for the project,
Rain, which she wrote and is executive producing though her Fly Free Productions. Show is described as an evolutionary parable that gives us a look into our possible future as a species viewed through the eyes of a soldier named Rain (Sackhoff).

The actress will play Plumette the feather duster - maid of the castle prior to the Enchantress' spell, who is also Lumiere's girlfriend. She is transformed into a feather duster after the curse. The movie stars Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the beast, and Luke Evans as Gaston. It hits theaters in March of 2017.

American Hotel Story alum Kathy Bates was confirmed to rejoin the series for the upcoming
Hotel, Paulson has checked in as well. In true Ryan Murphy style, the showrunner tweeted that “AHS” mainstay Paulson will be returning for the fifth season. Paulson has starred in all four of the previous installments. She joins the previously announced Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley and Chloë Sevigny.
