Less than two weeks after it began streaming, the show has been given the green light for a second season, with plans to air in 2016. Steven DeKnight is out as show runner, however, to be replaced by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, both of whom worked on the show’s first season. Marvel also has
AKA Jessica Jones debuting on Netflix later this year, and
Luke Cage premiering in 2016. The shows
Iron Fist and
The Defenders are also on the slate.

Following the comedian-actor’s two stand-up specials for the streaming service, Netflix is moving forward with an as-yet-untitled sitcom that will star Aziz, as well as Jon Benjamin, Lena Waithe, Eric Wareheim, Noel Wells and Kelvin Yu. The plot description is being kept under wraps. Ansari co-created the show with Alan Yang and will exec produce with Yang, Michael Schur, Dave Becky and David Miner.

The studio and label have teamed with a nice array of talent to bring
Bloodshot and
Harbinger to the big screen as the first two installments of a five picture deal. First up is
Bloodshot, with directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski helming from a script by Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer. Meanwhile, Neal Moritz and Andrea Giannetti will produce
Harbinger. Two other properties,
Archer & Armstrong and
Shadowman, are also in development at Sony.

Cummings will write, executive produce and star in the pilot, which is a half-hour comedy loosely based on Maureen Dowd’s 2005 book,
Are Men Necessary? The potential series would take a studied look at relationships, using experts to help the characters figure out what role biology plays in their decisions.

Right after the news that Ewan McGregor had joined the cast as Lumiere, it was announced that Tucci has joined the cast in a brand new role, one that didn’t appear in either the 1991 animated film or the Broadway musical adaptation. Tucci and McGregor join Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ian McKellan, Audra McDonald, Kevin Kline, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw in the stunning cast.

John Malkovich has joined the cast of the film, which tells the story of the infamous British Petroleum oil rig that caught fire and exploded on April 20, 2010, while drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 crew members and resulting in the largest offshore oil spill in United States history. Kurt Russell has already signed on, along with up-and-comers Gina Rodriguez and Dylan O’Brien. Peter Berg is directing.

The British network has announced that the pair has been cast in
Game Changer (a working title), a 90-minute drama about
Grand Theft Auto’s status as a cultural phenomenon, and the controversy that has surrounded the video game franchise for years. Radcliffe will play one of the co-founders of the studio behind the game, while Paxton will play a lawyer who campaigned against violent video games, calling them a blight on society.
