Rep Moves for 5/13/15: TV Comedy Powerhouse Chuck Lorre Signs with UTA, Terrence Malick to LBI & More

UTA: TV comedy showrunner Chuck Lorre has inked with UTA. Previously he was repped by Bob Broder at ICM Partners, but has been without official representation since Broder left to head Lorre’s production shingle, Life’s Too Short, in 2012. It’s a big win for UTA has Lorre has created long running shows Two And a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and Mike & Molly. In addition he also has an overall production and development deal between Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. that encompasses both television and film that will continue through next year.

ICM Partners: Actress Rebecca Ferguson, who will star in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation opening July 31, has signed with ICM Partners. She was also cast in Florence Foster Jenkins starring Meryl Streep and wrapped as a lead in Despite The Falling Snow, an indie about the Cold War. She previously starred as Queen Elizabeth in BBC’s The White Queen which aired on Starz.

LBI Entertainment: Filmmaker Terrence Malick will now be managed by Ilene Feldman at LBI Entertainment. He will continue to be repped by CAA. He recently completed the Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett starrer Knight of Cups. He also wrapped on an untitled film starring Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara. Broad Green Pictures acquired domestic rights for this film and Knight of Cups for $6.5 million at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival. Next up is The Voyage of Time which he’s in post on and was made in conjunction with IMAX and will also be distributed by Broad Green stateside.

CAA: Choreographer turned Tony nominated director/choreographer for his Broadway version of An American in Paris, Christopher Wheeldon has signed with CAA. He will continue to be managed by London-based Tobias Round. Previously, he premiered the first full-length ballet in over 20 years for the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden called Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and followed it up in 2014 with The Winter's Tale based on the Shakespeare play of the same name.
