Surreal.tv is teaming with the film’s screenwriter Jonathan Betuel for a new show that will be titled
The Starfighter Chronicles. Film was released in 1984 and stars Lance Guest as a teenage boy who, because of his exceptional skill at video games, is recruited by an intergalactic fleet to help defend the galaxy against evil forces. Show will drop the film’s video game recruitment angle and will instead focus on intergalactic law enforcement.

The co-writer and star of the 1984 original was on set yesterday filming a scene with Kristen Wiig, who stars in the new film alongside Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, as well as Andy Garcia and Chris Hemsworth.
