Luc Besson Has a Brand New Sci-Fi Epic On the Way, and He’s Found His Leads

French filmmaker Besson took to Twitter to announce the new project, Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets, which has Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan on board to star. He also confirmed that filming would commence in December, and the film would be in theaters in 2017. Delevingne is currently shooting David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. (EMP)

Paramount Wins Bidding War For Atlantic Magazine Article, ‘The Wedding Sting'

Apparently, the bidding for the article was quite competitive, with studios including Universal in the hunt for the rights, Paramount came in with the best offer. Written by Jeff Maysh, the article tells the tale of how the police department in the rural town of Flint, Minn., devised a plan in 1990 to create a fake wedding in order to lure all the local drug dealers to one party. ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’ Might Have Just Landed an Oscar Winner

Eddie Redmayne, who just won an Oscar a couple months ago for his work playing Steven Hawking in The Theory of Everything, is in talks to play Newt Scamander, the lead role in the Harry Potter prequel series. The movie’s title refers to a book written by Scamander, a textbook used by Harry Potter and his pals when they attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The movie would take place 70 years before the Potter films. (DH)

Eric Stonestreet Lands Coveted ‘Confirmation’ Role In HBO True Life Tale Of Clarence Thomas Hearings

Kerry Washington stars as Anita Hill in the HBO Original Film, with Wendell Pierce playing Thomas. Stonestreet will play Ken Duberstein, the lobbyist/Washington insider who is assigned by President George Bush to get Thomas appointed as Supreme Court Justice. Susannah Grant will pen the script and executive produce the drama, which hails from Groundswell Productions in association with ABC Signature. (THR)

Because TV and Movies Is Not Enough, Sofia Vergara Is Now Coming To Snapchat

The actress and her son, Monolo González Vergara, are working with Fusion to bring a new series to the app. Called Vergaraland, the series will take a look at Vergara’s working life, and will explore her role as an actress, businesswoman, and mother. Show is set to debut this summer across six episodes. (TVI)

The Remake Train Rolls On, as ’The Fugitive’ Is Coming Back to Big Screens

Warner Bros. Pictures is developing a new big screen take on the property. WB’s specific plans for the new film are currently a mystery, however, and it is unclear whether or not the studio is planning a total reboot based on the original 1960s television series or if the new film will serve as a sequel to director Andrew Davis’ 1993 feature film that starred Harrison Ford in the title role and won Tommy Lee Jones an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Following In the Footsteps Of ‘True Detective’ and ‘American Horror Story’, Season Two Of ‘American Crime’ Will Be Completely Different

ABC’s critical hit spring show is taking the anthology path, and while it will feature some of the same actors from Season One, they will be in entirely different roles. While critics praised the show, it was not a success in the ratings, averaging only 6.9 million viewers and a 1.7 among adults 18-49, including DVR playback.   (EW)

First Look: ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

After much speculation, Disney and Lucasfilm have released concept art revealing the first look at Lupita Nyong’o's CGI character in the film, Maz Kanata. The character has been described as a pirate - perhaps setting her up as a Han Solo-esque rogue in the Star Wars canon - and she evidently control's an entire castle. The movie hits theaters December 18th. (CB)
