Like a Phoenix, Gramercy Pictures Rises From the Ashes

Focus Features has revived the label, last seen in 2002, as the genre brand for its action, horror and sci-fi movies. Insidious 3, which opens June 5, will be the first title to carry the Gramercy brand. Focus, which went through an extensive reorganization two years ago, is a division of NBC Universal. Focus is not adding any new staff for the move. (VAR)

So, If You’re Keeping Score, It’s Peter Sarsgaard In, Jason Momoa Out Of ‘Magnificent Seven’ Remake’

The MGM/Sony remake of the 1960 film has found its bad guy. Sarsgaard is in final negotiations to play Bartholomew Bogue, a robber baron whose hired thugs kill the husband of a woman who hires a group of mercenaries to take back the small town that has become Bogue’s stomping grounds. Meanwhile, Momoa has dropped out due to, according to one report, the fact that his character had little to do. (DH)

Lonely Island’s Music Spoof ‘Connor4real’ Adds a Couple Impressive Names

Tim Meadows has joined the project, while Imogen Poots is in talks, from the team of Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer. The film, which takes potshots at music documentary/concert films, sees Samberg as a rapper who has found big success since splitting with his boy band, but who must reunite with them when his latest solo album flops. Taccone and Schaffer are co-starring and directing, with Judd Apatow on hand to produce. (EMP)

Indie Dramedy ‘Tallulah’ Snags Ellen Page and Allison Janney To Lead It

Sian Heder having written the screenplay and directing the film, which tells the story of a free-spirited young urban adventurer who rescues a baby girl from her spoiled and reckless mom. Page stars as Tallulah or “Lu” who quickly learns that the rest of the world thinks she kidnapped the child. She passes the baby off as her own with the mother of her ex-boyfriend, Margo, a middle-aged divorcé played by Janney. Route One Entertainment is financing the film. (CS)

And a couple thousand hours of The Late Late Show. The retiring host is the founder of Worldwide Pants Inc., which produced both programs, as well as a handful of sitcoms. (AA)
